Everyone is celebrating International Women’s Day this week, and I understand the significance. It’s essential to have moments of celebration in both our private and professional lives. However, I believe we should aim to celebrate an International Human Day every single day.
This week, what I secretly (and naively) hoped for was to see major corporations, countries, and organizations acknowledging their historical missteps openly: “All right, I have been truly messing up for generations. It’s time for a change.” If you’ve seen such acknowledgments, I’m eager to hear about these outliers.
But my concerns extend beyond gender inequality. I’m referring to the myriad global issues that seemingly surpass our personal and collective problem-solving abilities. It appears we’ve become desensitized to the ongoing crises around us. Let’s address the significant challenges: poverty, various forms of abuse (psychological, physical, sexual, financial), the lack of access to fresh and safe water, climate change, wars, and conflicts. It baffles me why these issues persist—haven’t we learned from history to avoid repeating the mistakes of our ancestors?
Yet, humanity has never been wealthier than we are now. We could feasibly nourish two planet Earths with the amount of food we produce, yet countless people go hungry.
It seems we are just one decision away from profound change.
Change is daunting, initially requiring courage, resources, and will. However, the alternative—convincing ourselves that everything is fine and continuing life as usual—carries far more severe consequences than we might anticipate. While we might not face these consequences directly, future generations certainly will.
So, what are you waiting for?
I’m passionate about driving change through co-creation sessions. You’d be amazed at the impact a group of dedicated individuals can have in a short period. The potential for transformation is immense when we come together to effect change.
Join us in this journey toward positive transformation. Let’s not just celebrate one day; let’s work towards a future where every day is a celebration of humanity’s progress and unity.
