Our Creator of September 2019
After passing my watchmaker’s certificate of capacity in the Technical School in the Vallée de Joux, I worked for several brands in the watchmaking industry. The experience at Audemars Piguet was an eye-opener for me. I worked on different movements, such as quartz, simple mechanics, automatic ones, and chronographs. I also could teach people who were working in our shops and I gave courses in Spanish, which is my mother-tongue. I am a watchmaker at Initium since its beginning.
I love my job. Initium offers an immersion in the world of the watchmaking industry. Our goal is to share a unique experience in a warm environment and to share our watchmaker’s knowledge and passion. I am happy to share it also with you and to teach you how to create your tailored watch.
A short interview with Sandra
Why do I organize workshops?
I have always liked to communicate with people and to share my knowledge and passion about watchmaking. With my encounters at Initium, I can promote what I like in the watchmaking industry, such as history, mechanical operations, and techniques. What you should know about Initium is that this project was born from a master project. In fact, Mathieu Gigandet – initiator of Initium was very enthusiastic about the watchmaking industry, and he with his friends realized that it was difficult to enter this world. Our goal is to allow people to become watchmakers during one day. I love the fact that our guests can create their own watches and go out of our courses with unique souvenirs.
What will you learn at my workshops?
You will have a unique souvenir and memory thanks to our courses. Moreover, you will create a Swiss made watch of the highest quality with a two-year guarantee. You can choose from our three types of courses; the first one is an introduction to watchmaking. The course lasts three hours and you are going to disassemble and reassemble the movement. The second option is to create your own mechanical watch during a half-day. So, with this option, you are going to choose components of your watch and assemble them. Finally, the last option is a combination of the two first options.
