Open foundations ↗0.0 Overview
The Future of Humanity Report grew out of the Future of Humanity Experience held in Basel in 2025 and years of lived reflections and experiments around the future of humanity.
It gathers signals, questions and stories from people working across disciplines and contexts. Instead of predicting one timeline, the report opens a space where multiple futures can be explored side by side and revisited over time.
Structure
The report is structured around nine chapters: a foundation, seven thematic futures and a forward-looking closing chapter. Below is an at-a-glance overview with short descriptions and direct links.
Outlines the core intention, language and framing of the report. Introduces multiple futures as a shared design space and explains how the chapters connect.
Open foundations ↗Explores how humans and machines collaborate, make decisions and share agency. Looks at trust, coordination and new architectures of working together.
Open chapter ↗Treats technology as a mirror of human consciousness. Examines attention, presence and the shadow and light of technological futures.
Open chapter ↗Looks at creative work in a world shaped by AI, automation and planetary limits. Traces how imagination and artistic practice remain tangible sources of value.
Open chapter ↗Connects space exploration with inner exploration. Questions why and how we explore, and what responsibility beyond Earth can look like.
Open chapter ↗Looks at predictive systems, AI models and data infrastructures and how they transform decision making, uncertainty and the idea of knowing.
Open chapter ↗Redefines prosperity beyond money and status. Investigates value, distribution, care and regenerative models for people and planet.
Open chapter ↗Focuses on infrastructures, interfaces and tools that shape everyday life. Questions how technological choices encode values and open or close possibilities.
Open chapter ↗Brings threads from all chapters together and looks ahead. Invites readers to treat the report as a starting point for their own futures, collaborations and experiments.
Open forward ↗Context
The Future of Humanity Experience and the Future of Humanity Report belong together. One creates a physical situation for reflection and dialogue; the other holds the work in a form that can travel across time and locations.
Many of the ideas, quotes and questions in the report come directly from installations, workshops and conversations during the Experience. This page keeps that connection visible and offers a way back to the physical space.
Reading guide
The report is not meant to be read once and put away. It is designed as a companion for projects, conversations and decisions.
