Lisa Russell is an Emmy-winning filmmaker, AI artist, and internationally recognized climate storyteller whose work sits at the transformative intersection of art, advocacy, and emerging technologies. With over 20 years of experience as a global storyteller—including collaborations with the United Nations, international NGOs, and frontline communities—Russell creates artistic interventions that reimagine justice, nature, and the future.
Her poetry-based film Mother’s Cry, which explores climate grief and intergenerational resilience, has screened three times at the United Nations and at more than 35 international film festivals. Her AI-driven music video Moving On was spotlighted during COP29 as Africa’s first AI-powered climate change music video. Russell’s work has been showcased at the UN Summit of the Future, AI for Good in Geneva, and unDAVOS, placing her at the forefront of global conversations on the intersection of technology, creativity, and sustainability.
Through her platform ArtsEnvoy.ai, she is building the infrastructure to train and equip artists—especially those from underrepresented communities—to use AI responsibly in the service of impact, equity, and creative innovation. Her expansive creative practice spans AI filmmaking, digital poetry, immersive storytelling, and multi-modal installations, all rooted in a commitment to honoring indigenous knowledge, frontline perspectives, and the enduring possibility of joy amid global struggle.
As an Asian American woman based in Kenya, Lisa Russell brings a global, intersectional lens to her work.
