Future of Humanity Art Walk at Davos
Gianluca Iadema is a composer, visual artist, and performer whose multidisciplinary practice blurs the boundaries between sound, image, sculpture, and performance. By integrating diverse elements such as light, architecture, and cinema, Iadema creates immersive environments where the viewer experiences a seamless interplay between the digital and analog, reality and imagination. His work challenges the separation of artistic forms, presenting them as a unified whole that engages both the individual and the collective subconscious.
Central to Iadema’s practice is the interdependence between auditory and visual elements, often underpinned by themes of matter and imperfection. He combines influences from techno, glitch, and pop music with contemporary classical concepts, crafting narratives that emerge from found objects and memories. His art exists at the intersection of music, video, installation, and performance, offering audiences abstract yet deeply resonant stories.
Iadema’s artistic journey is underpinned by a rigorous academic background. He holds a Master’s degree in Classical Piano Performance from the Conservatory of Brescia (Italy), a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Music from the Institut für Elektronische Musik und Akustik (Austria), and a degree in Classical Composition from the Kunstuniversität für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Graz (Austria). He graduated with honors from the Hochschule der Künste Bern (Switzerland) with a Master’s in Composition and Creative Practice under the guidance of Simon Steen-Andersen. He has also studied with influential artists such as Curtis Roads, Matthew Shlomowitz, and Bernhard Lang, among others.
Iadema’s works have been commissioned and exhibited by prestigious festivals, galleries, and ensembles, including Wien Modern (Vienna), ZKM (Karlsruhe), Teatro Grande (Brescia), and the Artissima Fair (Turin). His groundbreaking compositions have earned him accolades such as the Franz Schubert und die Musik der Moderne Prize and the Giulio and Giulio Bruno Togni Prize.
In 2019, he released his debut album Aphàiresis on Mille Plateaux Editions, followed by ID[entità] in 2023, in collaboration with Swiss singer Franziska Baumann. His works are part of prominent collections, including the Stefano Cecchi Trust Collection and Fondazione Recontemporary Collection. Learn more here.
"Through my approach—merging sound, light, sculpture, and video into cohesive, participatory environments—I aim to contribute to the dialogue on how technology reshapes identity and perception. My work invites audiences to reflect on the evolving relationship between humanity and innovation, fostering a deeper understanding of our place in a rapidly transforming world."
