Future of Humanity Art Walk at Davos

Born in Basel in 1965, Nives Widauer is an internationally acclaimed artist whose diverse career spans over three decades. Her multidisciplinary approach encompasses video, installation art, sculpture, painting, drawing, and collage, creating a richly textured body of work that blurs boundaries between media and techniques.

At the heart of Widauer’s art is a process of re-contextualization, where familiar elements are transformed into striking new constellations that engage with existential questions and cultural narratives. Her work intertwines autobiographical moments, cultural and historical references, social rituals, and memories, crafting individual mythologies that invite viewers into her uniquely layered world.

Widauer’s artistic achievements are marked by an impressive roster of international exhibitions, including shows at prestigious venues such as the Kunstmuseum Basel, Kunsthaus Zürich, Belvedere Vienna, Lincoln Center New York, Museum der Moderne Salzburg, and the Austrian Cultural Forum in New York and Washington, D.C. In addition to her gallery and museum work, Widauer designs stage sets for music, theater, and opera productions, often integrating live video, demonstrating her commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration.
