Future of Humanity Art Walk at Davos
Rex Dixon, born in London in 1939, is a distinguished painter whose career spans decades of teaching, creating, and experimenting across continents. After serving as Visual Arts Officer at Midlands Art Centre in Birmingham and teaching painting at the New University of Ulster, Belfast, Rex made a transformative move to Jamaica in 1984. There, he taught at the Edna Manley School for the Visual Arts until 1999, when he transitioned to focus entirely on his painting practice.
A graduate of several UK art schools, Rex has explored a wide range of stylistic approaches throughout his career. His work, characterized by expressionistic figurative elements and gestural techniques, reflects a profound mastery of color and line. Never confined to dominant trends or specific genres, Rex’s unique approach draws inspiration from art history, integrating its rich narratives into his work while maintaining a distinct and fluid identity.
Rex’s commitment to experimentation and his deep understanding of drawing and painting techniques have established him as a painter whose work transcends categories. His art carries figurative overtones while embracing bold, hard-edged abstraction, all with an unmistakable flair that remains true to his artistic voice. Learn more here.
I envision a world where artificial intelligence and social media are harnessed for the betterment of humanity. I hope for a future where art and the voices of artists play a greater role in shaping political discussions, offering insights into the human condition and inspiring transformative change.
