Future of Humanity Art Walk at Davos
So Youn Kim is a dynamic abstract artist and interdisciplinary thinker with a rich cosmopolitan background. Born in Seoul, Republic of Korea, and educated in Canada, So Youn merges her expertise in international affairs with her passion for contemporary abstract expressionism. A Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (FRSA) and a member of the British Art Network (BAN) and Royal Academy of Arts, she combines her artistic pursuits with roles as a public policy advisor and the President of the Norman Paterson School of International Affairs (NPSIA) Alumni Association.
Inspired by texts from philosophers like Marcus Aurelius and Michel Foucault, as well as the writings of John Ruskin and Ralph Waldo Emerson, So Youn’s work explores the philosophical and cultural dimensions of global interconnectedness. Her abstract paintings reflect a social scientific lens, translating complex ideas about the interplay of cultural, political, and philosophical themes into vibrant and evocative visual art. My definition of international affairs is literally everything about everything, since in this globalized world, everything we talk about is literally international. Innovation in international affairs is inherently cultural, encompassing topics such as fashion, art, and beyond. By embracing this interconnectedness, I hope to bridge disciplines and inspire new ways of thinking about the future.
