Monica: We all have transitions in life – pivotal moments that shape who we are and who we’re becoming. I recall one at the age of 22. I was a high-achieving, type-A student on the fast track of life, winning awards and ace-ing academics. But my trained ways of excelling had a high cost. I had already experienced one debilitating bout with hypoglycemia and chronic fatigue. As I crashed, I sensed there was a ceiling to the method of success I had learned. So I set out to discover a new way to succeed that was powerful – and sustainable. That curiosity has taken me on the journey of a lifetime.

I started by launching experiments to expand my repertoire of capabilities. First up? Drop perfectionism. I started taking on bigger challenges – ones that I couldn’t do perfectly. Over time I trained myself to experience failure as a welcome teacher that could illuminate new paths of success. Next up? Become more bold. Traveling alone was one of my first growth edges. On breaks from Accenture, I would pop into Mexico to experience the local culture. Immersing myself in foreign lands has exposed me to different ways of thinking and being. And traveling alone has built confidence and ignited a sense of adventure. By now I’m truly a citizen of the world – with more yet to discover.

Over the years, and with each experiment, I transformed. Life herself has now become my teacher. Spirituality, physics and nature have been my guides. I’ve learned to blend energetics with strong business skills to shape ventures and inspire leaders – from innovative startups to cultural icons, like Lucasfilm. 

I call this new framework of success Quantum Surfing. The model for success we’ve been taught drains our energy. But to be sustainable, we need to build our energy and use it in a way that produces results with less effort. And frankly, more joy. Quantum Surfing is a new perspective on how life works. It’s consistent with the quantum nature of our reality, and it draws on neuroscience and applied enlightenment – spiritual principles grounded in science. Quantum Surfing is exhilarating, just like catching a wave. And it’s the model that decades ago I intuitively felt must be possible.
